CASA MARIA - Matanzas
Matanzas, Chile Set on a steep slope descending toward the Pacific Ocean, this 220 m² residence is located within a ravine north of Matanzas Beach. The project is conceived as a diagonal insertion into the terrain, allowing the full architectural program to unfold along its longest axis. A timber structural system, complemented by concrete elements, defines the spatial and structural strategy of the house. This operation generates a protected inner courtyard at the core of the project—sheltered from the strong coastal winds and conceived as a controlled green space that maintains a constant visual connection to the surrounding landscape and ocean views. Through this subtractive gesture, the central courtyard emerges as the heart of the house, organizing and articulating the different spaces. It acts as the connective element between common areas, service zones, access, and private rooms, structuring both circulation and spatial relationships throughout the project.
